I am so lucky living where I do as there is a wealth of wildlife on my doorstep, In the garden around and about where I live in North Dorset and the reserves including RSPB Arne in Poole Harbour, RSPB Radipole and Lodmoor in the heart of Weymouth and RSPB Ham Wall and Shapwick Heath on the Somerset Levels all just under or over and hour’s drive from home.
These give a variation of habitat from chalk downland, river valleys the moors of Somerset and the heathland towards Poole.
I don’t profess to being a wildlife photographer, I do it for the enjoyment of seeing different species and learning their names, although it gets a bit tricky with some of the water and small birds. I have learned patience and I am happy to sit in a hide for a couple of hours hoping to see that special animal.
