I think taking Landscape images is probably my favourite genre of photography. I am so lucky to have been born in North Dorset and I have only moved from just over the hill to where I live now. So I have the added advantage of knowing the area quite well and this helps me in choosing subjects for my images.
I tend to be fairly spontaneous in the images I take, I know where I’m going and what the light may be like but decide when I get there on the composition. Sometimes it works sometimes it doesn’t but that’s the joy when it does come out right.
My favourite time is the early morning and I am lucky to have a companion Tilly my dog who comes for a walk with me. I usually decide before I get out of bed which way I’ll be going usually, all by foot but I may take the car if I want to go a little farther.
Taking images round ‘my patch’ means I can get something different, not saying I don’t enjoy the iconic images you can get from the Jurassic coast and the rest of Dorset and beyond.
